The End Of Microsoft Money: Big Company Doesn't Always Win

It has been a while since Microsoft announced that its going to discontinue Microsoft Money despite years of effort and millions of dollars spent to try to defeat Intuit's Quicken product. Even after Microsoft stopped making updates to money Intuit itself was facing upstart challenges from web-focused startups like Mint and Wesabe. But then Intuit bought Mint for 170 million dollars…

Last night I fired my copy of MS Money and discovered this. The splash screen made me an offer to “Switch to Quicken”. This is truly sad because MS Money was an awesome consumer oriented product.

It is NOT in the sharepoint.dll. You must add a new reference to the Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages.dll. You can find this dll here:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\CONFIG\BIN\Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages.dll

Twitter Turns On Location. Microsoft turns on hash.at

As twitter is rolling out its new ambitious geolocation project, we are rolling out http://hash.at

Location appears to be a big part of Twitter’s strategy going forward. Not only do they have the Geolocation API, but they have a new API to serve up better Trending Topics based on location. And here is my hash: http://bit.ly/6mlSbt
